Seamus Callaghan 0
I am a new member of this forum and thoroughly enjoy hunting with my lurcher. I am nineteen but hunting has been a family tradition and I can remember the cold windy nights when I was younger out with my father with a collie x greyhound called flash. I remember the excitement of the dog coursing rabbits and the joy of catching one after so many slipping away. From then I have been out as much as I can with my saluki x greyhound. I've also done a bit of ferreting and digging from time to time, but for me, there is no greater pleasure than watching my dog working the lamp and bringing her catches back. During August in the nights leading up to the start of the season, I go out too scope for ( in my opinion) the best fields to hunt and to let the bitch have a few courses to get her back on her toes. What is everyone else's favourite way and/or time to hunt and what is your favourite memory of the hunt? Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I'm sorry if you are genuine and call me paranoid but that first post sounds dodgy as f**k. Don't be surprised if you don't get many replies. All the best if you are genuine Quote Link to post
morton 5,369
Daytime,s the best for me,id rather watch a sunlit, rather than lamplit gallop, the best memories are often the one,s that escaped to run, more educated again, saying that an impossible run over obstacles and the unintentional shouts of encouragement, the tension and curses that arise with every twist and turn, the extra yard gained at a fence or gate and the sheer thrill of the mutt again getting back on terms, the final surge and lunge, the heartrending squeal that signals the ending of a memorable gallop, then later wishing it could have just turned a tad quicker, made the extra yard and been there to run again another time. The frustration of a missed opportunity and the guilty euphoria of a dog that you,ve fed, educated then trained to do what you often wish it could,nt,at times.
