Fx T12 First Impressions

Recommended Posts

just bought an fx t12 for £300 without mag or fill adapter. my first thoughts when seeing the rifle were "it looks like it can take a beating" with the air cylinder not being blued it should NOT rust at all. mine has a standard typhoon stock not the t12 stock which is a bit of a shame as the gun is quite short in this stock. the build quality of the stock is so so. a little underwhelming for an fx as it does NOT feature a rubber but pad and it has FAKE butt extenders. not only that but the stock is held to the gun via 1 bolt, this allows the front of the stock to flex a little. the receiver is unfortunately blank on the bolt side and has info on the other side such as model, serial number, max fill pressure etc. the bolt cycle is white querky and not so smooth but it is brand new so a assume that will get better over time.this gun is extremely light!! however on the other hand the gun has excellent handling and in my opinion isn't to bad to look at. it is deadly accurate. i managed a one hole three shot group at 30 yards literally through the same hole (i thought i was missing the target completely lol) and that group was with a beaten old nikko sterling gold crown air king 3-12x42. the rifle is not thta loud without a silencer but with my hw100 silencer on both me and a mate thought it has no air in as it sounds like the knock open valve is just sticking open, but thats not the case thank god.this gun is a lot quieter than my fn19 with the same silencer and i think it will serve well n the field. it does NOT come stock with fitted sling studs which is a shame but thats not a big deal. oh and the trigger is insanely light out of the box, or at least mine was. like 10oz!! the gun does NOT feature a safety however it does have a safe mode when cocking. if you lock the bolt in the back down position it disables the trigger and it also has a nice feature where if you have the bolt open and back but not down and you pull the trigger, the bolt will not slam closed as there is a spring that counter acts the forward force, so not bad i guess. as mine does NOT have a magazine yet i cant pass comment on it but i have read that you need some fairly high mounts as the mag is rather large but that wouldn't effect me anyway as i use higher mounts. my overall thoughts are that this gun is a lower end fx rifle but still has the fx accuracy along with the fx smooth twist bore in .22 and standard lowther barrel in .177. i think in the right hands this could be used to great effect on rabbits out to maybe 60 yards+. one thing i would like to see is a regulator but for that price you cant expect much.
