The time of plenty is now upon us, so my better half is now preserving like there's no tomorrow.

So far, strawberry jam, blackcurrant jam, rhubarb and ginger jam, raspberry jam, black currant cordial, black currant and blackberry cordial.

We will be bottling lots of tomatoes any day and crushing and freezing many more, there is going to be a huge harvest end of next month of both sweet and chillie peppers.

The garlic is already dried and hung up and the onions and challotts will be out and on the drying racks next week.

This is only the beginning, there is so much to do over the next three months, not to mention keeping the damned cabbage whites and slugs off the brassicas !
