DVD Players ~ Attatchable To Ones Monitor Screen?

:hmm: What it is; I have an ultra expensive, flat, 'digital' screen here, 17". I can't watch DVD's on it though because of a mixture of mickey screwing with my entire system by stealthy increments and some balls up with my original DVD software. So, f*ck all that. With DVD Players allegedly being sold in Tesco for 20 quid, I figured I'd see about buying a Player and so by passing the poxy Lap Top all together.

el Deano ran me past Argos today, but I found I had no way of discerning, from their catalogue, which may have the suitable 'squashed rectangle with a bolt hole either side' type female plug thingy on the back. Ye know what I'm talking about; Monitor screen plug reciever.

See, I can get a 'portable' player for just over 100 Euro's. But who wants to squint into a seven inch screen when ye have a de luxe 17" bugger right above it? I have no tv, so obviously that option's out the window.

Bugger it. I could go on, stating what should be obvious. But if ye need further explanation, ye probably won't know what the f*ck either of us is talking about anyway. I want a stand alone Player which I can attatch to my screen. Boosh!

Something around 150 Euro's would hit the mark (100 quid?) I'm not happy to shell out 500 quid for some glorious Toshiba thing that I'll probably only ever use half a dozen f*cking times! Cheaper to go to the cinema in the next county!

Any ideas, please?

Hi Ditch,

You probably need a SCART to VGA cable, you can get these from most electronic shops like Maplins or Tandy though I think you'll pay as much for one of those as you do for your DVD player.

Maybe somebody on the site has one lying around gathering dust they can donate. :D

plus watch out when you buy player, it is assumed that you must have a TV to want a DVD player! pay via debit card or fill in home details on registration card and you end up with TV liscensing on your doorstep demanding entry to search house for an unliscensed TV!! Havent had TV for 15 years now and still get the phone calls!

VGA! Thanks, mate ;) That's the bloody name of it, isn't it? Cool. Ok. I'll check them out on line presently. Then, if I feel the need, I'll pop up on Classifieds :good:

FPO; I could actually send you to a post I made on the Official govt. tv lisencing debate site, not long before I simply bailed out of that stinking hole of a country. having only owned a tv once in my life - and then having promptly bought a full lisence for it ~ then having given away the brand new tv long before the lisence ran out (I only bought the set to watch a certain video!) I too came to lead a life dogged by those b*stards. As I made clear in that publicly available post: It was all going to culminate in things getting highly 'emotional' :gunsmilie:

Anyway, here we have the odd advert on Irish tv, which I see in my local. Suggesting 'They'll' find ye, no matter how remote ye are. But I've no tv here. No lisence. Over a year now and not so much as a brown envelope. Come here and (illegally) demand entry? I'd genuinely Love to see that! I'd simply unleash " Chain ", the latest addition to my Pack, and bid them do as they saw fit!:feck:

Sorry for ranting on yer thread Ditch; just had to let that out.

:D No worries at all, mate! In fact, if ye Really want to vent ye frustration and disgust at those b*stards? Just go HERE and be amongst friends! :clapper:

Mheanwhile, this Scart to VGA idea's starting to look a bit more testing that I'd hoped or imagined :( I just happened across THIS! Oh well; Saved me twenty to thirty quid, I s'pose?

I have seen more expensive leads advertised, as mentioned by Shaman. But nowhere can I find it in writing that 'this product will anable ye to connect a DVD Player to a PC Moniter. F*cked if I'm shelling out sixty quid just to suck it and see then!

I'm thinking, as I could really do with a clean OS in this thing anyway, maybe I'll just buy a new OS disc and try to reinstall some DVD software. As long as, that is, the real XP allows me to use my D Drive again. Because it looks like mickey's got inside here and blocked that off for me :censored:

Oh well. It was just an idea.

Cheers for all that, lads. Now maybe I can sort of answer everyone in one go? I'm running on 236.8 KBS, so downloading even one of your pictures is a bind for me. See what I'm saying? On top of that, mickey's completely taken control of my system and is nannying me to the n'th degree. Thus my D Drive won't see ANY disc I put in there now. First it stopped reading CDRW's I have. Then it started ~ out of the blue ~ telling me I wasn't lisenced to watch the brand new, shop bought DVD I was given for my birthday (always worked before and I'd touched nothing.) Next it stopped reading ANY disc, except shop bought music CD's.

The other night, mickeys media player went tits up and it offered me an update. I didn't bother as That would only lead me to 'Ye not eligable for this. Buy our f*cking OS Disc here!'.

So now I'm listening to my music on Real, untill mickey worms in and f*ckin destroys That option for me.

Actually, I was just on my way to check my Irish bank account, see if I've been paid yet this month. If so, I'll buy a pukka XP OS and hope to f*ckin god the D Drive can read That! :icon_eek:

Oh! Edited to say; On a hunch, I just checked. Seems I Have " Power DVD SE " on here! Mickey's f*cked it :censored:
