New Stealth ...............20 Cal !

Recommended Posts

I have had 3 of these now with this one, and ever since they came out in late 80's early 90's whenever it was I have only had one problem a faulty valve on the last which was sorted out very quick by Gunpower, they are said to be like marmite you'll love or hate it, but after converting my last one in .22 to .20 I thought I would go for another.

This came this week so not really been out with her yet as rain has'nt stopped, so I made a wooden case to fit it into with scope on and the whole thing fits in my rucksack so well you could walk in a supermarket and no one would be any the wiser, The cammo sleeve over buddy bottle is litteraly and old realtree light weight jacket sleeve that was full of holes and fit for the bin lol  It came with air but only whats left after their testing etc so was expecting a low readout on chrono but was'nt bad at 10.34 ft lb with a 13.73 grain Jsb exact considering the buddy was over half empty, the fps and ft lb has come up a fair bit now after giving a full 200 bar charge but forgot what the last reading was but something Im more than happy with, but all manufacturers now seem to set up on the lower side of 12 ft lb usually at 11-11.2 as certain pellet brands have been too close for comfort with quite a few different makes and models so I'm told.

They use a very heavy weight pellet in .20 for testing setting it at around 11.2 to 11.5 ft lb but some say they are easy to go over the limit, but with the new buddy bottle valve system this is'nt the case anymore as the old ones could if the top hat valve head unscrewed a tad but now they are all tamper proof inside set as law asked for from all airgun manufacturers.

These really are a tinkerers delight as they say for adding odds and sods and fancy parts but im not interested in shiny brass cocking levers etc just thought I would put a little realtree vinyl cammo tape over it to match scope I did a week or 2 ago, the last one I had did from a rested bench or beanbag do a very tight group out to 40 yrds under the size of a modern 5 pence piece so I have high hopes for this one too, all spares are kept in stock by Geoff at Gunpower and can be sent next day after a quick phone call but in all the years all i needed was a new valve fitted on buddy, did'nt even have a worn o-ring. most maintenance can be done by us which is usually just a touch of silicone oil on the o-rings every 6 months or so....THEY VERY RARELY GO WRONG...... and 400 + shots per fill cant be beaten I just top back up after each session, there are many mods available for these but I am quite happy as it is..........Anyway thought I would just show and give some of you that may of thought about one my views and as for the non existant afer sales service could'nt be further from the truth as Geoff answers the phone everytime I ring pretty much and always calls you back if message is left...

Cheers,

Deano

That was a good read, enjoyed that deano. Like the case you made for it, but what is the large black box in the case ?

Just one point, the AT, anti tamper on todays airguns is not set in law, but done by manufacturers as the "responsible" thing to do, and you can indeed have it removed if you so wish. Daystate offered this service, dont know if they still do, but they would not break the law if indeed it was the law, had mine removed off my HW100 so i can fine tune it myself, and my FAO was perfectly fine with that. HW100 is non fac. You said the makers put the rifles out on or just below 11ftlb, the AT was just another way to keep them there, but the resposibility is still down to us to keep them under 12ftlb. sorry for going on

Hi, sorry I forgot to mention the black box in front of the scope was the empty laser box, its just the perfect size to fit where it is and to take a small toolkit, screwdriver allen keys a cloth barrel pull through and spare laser batteries etc and the little clear bag between buddy bottle and gun is a small combro chrono mk4 but did all tests with an F1 chrono then checked with the combro which is set up and calibrated and reads almost identical read outs so its just for a quick check whilst out and about, hopefully get out sometime soon to see how it performs.............

Blimey, all that in the box ! I keep a chrony in the boot when i go shooting for much the same reasons, I like to know exactly where the rifle is at, so it stay's accurate. I have been on the fringe of buying one of those stealth's a few times over the years, but never did, I think the "next" time, I just might.

Yeah, they're ok if you like this sort of thing but most hate the look of them they have a new one out called a hell cat which is based on the stealth but around 2ft max in length but did'nt fancy that as it must have a very short barrel which i always associate with poor accuracy, but they may be very good ? The stealths barrel is a 12" walther barrel and although short compared to some is very accurate.........
