marko 30
out walking the dogs a few wks ago just excercising them and the whippet went onto the field to see what was about and he was a bit slow coming off and two police on mountain bikes seen him and came upto us and started to question us if we were hunting i replied its a country park just excersising my dog like i have always done there he give me a form that he had filled in with my details on it,there was no comments on mine but on my friends he put on suspected hunting then we left. what i want to know is the legalities of this the dog has walked this park for yrs it hasnt always had many rabbitsin the park but now there are quite a few about aswell as squirrells but you have to let your dogs get fit what are we better off doing are we likely to be pulled again what about everyone else who goes to this park with their dogs off the lead,by the way the dog never caught anything on the field he just pottered back to us. COMPO 54
Marko was it a slip just to say they had spoken to you? If it was i wouldnt worry about it. By law they have to fill out a form just to say why they stopped you. I shouldnt think it will go any further if they have no evidence or no complaints. Joe Thats correct the Macpherson report (investigation into the death of steven Lawrence) recommended that the police give explanations about why they stop people , the same report made recommendations for the issue on the street of stop slips,(rather than writing them later and you having to attend the police station to request a copy) the same report brought stop slips into practice for more than just searches, it now includes like the above when they stopped you and asked you to account for what you were doing (stop and account) plus if you are stopped and searched the police have to comply with GOWISE G= Grounds for the search O= Object they are searching for W=Warrant card if tehy are in plain clothes I=Identify themselves - state their name unless they are doing a terrorism stop when its just their warrant number S=Station they are attached to E=Explanation to you all the above dont worry about it, they thought whats that lad doing, they came over and asked you what you were doing, you explained and they issued you the stop and account form stating they had stopped and spoken to you, thats all, nothing untoward they are just bound with even more paper work and are obliged to fill in these forms everytime they ask someone what they are doing or where they have been!
