Well not been posting on here for a right wee while, But last night i decided to hit the permission on a farm with both cattle an sheep,

As they are mainly hill sheep they lamb out, So i decided the next few weeks i'm gonna thin the numbers for the farmer,

Saw a few that ran right away on the lamp, but they were close and the wind was in their favour,

The night was at least a dry one but with vicious gales picking up across the valley's i decided it was gonna be a tough night,

After seeing only a few which where runners we picked up eyes in the distance, only to find a fox nosing about the ground looking for frogs and other tit bits, i noticed it was dragging its back left leg obviously and old injury as it didnt seem to hinder its movement,

With the gusts averaging 15 to slightly over 20mph and ranging it at 278 yards i dialed in the shot, light on, and off it went slowly but not too worried about the light, knowing the land i knew the the fenceline to which it was making for was 311 yards away so another few clicks up quickly i shouted as it turned side on to look back, moving slightly diagonal right to left, but in a forward direction away from the light and slightly downhill,

steadying my breathing and i let the round fly, holding slightly midrange allowing for the wind Not holding muxh hope i heard the thud back,

the round struck just at the front leg and exiting up through the neck, It wasnt a pretty sight, but was one of the biggest foxes i had shot in a few years, with nearly a complete grey back,

We couldn't believe i had managed to hit it with the wind that was in it, and the time since we had our last outting out,

So one more in this seasons rather small bag of 14,

Snap.
