gak25 16
Last night I was getting my ferreting gear ready for today got the Jill out for her to have a run about the shed and all was fine with her no problems, anyway went down to the shed around 4:30 in the morning to get the gear opened the cage went to pick her up and she was really skittish and nervous I though nothing of it. Got up to the permission opened the box to collar her up and she wouldn't budge out of the box , no like her she normally out as soon as I open the lid give her some fluids and popped her down and she wouldn't come back out kept poking her head out and running away and nipping me she's never behaved like this before and when I'm walking past her she's petrified has it got anything to do with her coming into season? It's got me puzzled any advice much appreciated Thanks Atb Garyn Edited February 28, 2013 by gak25 Quote Link to post
Huan72 687
I think there are so many possibilities here! If she was fine the last time she was hunting then something has happened between then and now. Hormonal change can and does cause behavoural change but I dont think that this vast difference in her attitude towards you and her fear of you would be down to that. Did something go wrong on the last outing? If so she may just be scared and reluctant to hunt! You noticed the change in the morning when you were getting the gear together and she would have definately known you were going hunting so I think that she may be associating the hunt with an unpleasant experience. If thats not the case have you checked your ferret housing, has someone tried breaking in; she is definately displaying fearfull behaviour and that fear came from somewhere! Some will probably think that this ones way out there so Im preparing for the abuse but did she have a really disturbing dream! Think about it, we can rationalise our nightmares but we can not possibly know if a ferret believes its dreams are real! Can you imagine if we thought all nightmares were real! Scarry Stuff Lastly whatever caused this, I think time and TLC will do the trick Quote Link to post
gak25 16
I was thinking its more along the line of the hormones too, the cage is all intact soo is the shed she's kept in no one could get it there Last time I went out she was on top form we had good numbers and all my mates who come ferreting I also keep an eye on them to see how they handle her and treat her, and it was all good no abusive behaviour from any human has been displayed to the ferret I think a extra tlc will do it too Thanks for the reply Atb Garyn Quote Link to post
Jamie m 668
Hormones is it her first season ??? Is she on her own , once in season there a right pain sometimes , add that to killing young down holes , it could be a long day , : ) Quote Link to post
