Fatman252 0
I'm looking at making a fibreglass stock for my s410, have done a bit of fibreglassing in the past just wondering if anyone can give advice on best way to work or if it is more hassle than its worth? pianoman 3,589
Hi Fatman252 (you ex RAF by any chance?) I'm no expert on fibreglass and certainly never heard of a riflestock made from it, fella. I cannot think of anyone who might have experience of this. Fibreglass is not perhaps ideal material? It seems too rigid a material against the metalwork of the rifle? It lacks elasticity of synthetic plastics and it certainly won't be as flexible and absorbing as wood when temperature changes from the cold of a winter's day to warm or hot indoors and causes the metals to expand and contract. Given that fibreglass has been around for many years now and nobody has produced a successful riflestock in it, might be a reason why! But what do I know? Have a go and see what you come up with fatman252, you might be on to a winner?!! Best of luck mate.. Simon Quote Link to post
