Gaz_1989 9,539
I'm thinking of trying to make a fox cage trap. I've got a large dog crate here. Wire all round. Was going to use this. What's the best and most simplistic mechanism or method to make the door close when they go in? I was thinking of taking the door off and making a wooden drop down door on rails with a pin stopping it falling and when the bait is taken the pin pulls and door falls? Cheers Gaz Quote Link to post

Lol. the way i done it was simple....string on a stick holding the door open...took up through the top of the cage, over the back, and back in tied to the bait.....therefor when they took the bait....and pulled it...the stick came free letting the door drop.......simples....... gnipper 6,787
Is the door on the end of the crate? Quote Link to post

gnipper 6,787
Can you not take that panel off and put it inside out so you've a ready made swinging door that you just need to make a trip and some form of catch for? Quote Link to post
Crosshair 77
It works even better if you prop the door open with two sticks like a Larsen trap, it means it takes much less force to spring the door Quote Link to post
