Royston2 0 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Share Posted July 17, 2007 Hi all thought my brindle bitch broke her leg other night just above the wrist what she had done was dislocate it the vet put it back and she is now in a splint the xray showed how ba it was it had litterally come right out bloody painful i bet any one know the rate of success with this sort of thing vet said she`d be fine but come on lads you all know the work these dogs get have any of you any experiance with this sort of dislocation if so what should i expect thanks for your time Quote Link to post
Guest POT FILLER Posted July 17, 2007 Report Share Posted July 17, 2007 MY OLD LURCHER DISCLOCATED HER BACK LEG START OF LAST SEASON RUNNING ON THE LAMP SHE HIT A CONCRETE HIDDEN GRID IN THE FIELD,THE IMPACT TO THE KNEE POPPED IT RIGHT OUT,THE PROBLEM WITH DISLOCATION EVEN WHEN THE DOGS IN A CONFINED SPACE THERES NO CERTAINTY IT WILL STAY IN PLACE MY DOG HAD TO BE PUT UNDER ANASTHETIC 3 TIMES BEFORE IT STAYED IN PLACE WITH A SLING,A MONTHS REST NO EXERCISE JUST LET IN THE GARDEN ,THE VET GIVE ME ANTBIOTIC TABLETS AND 2 BOTTLES OF METCAM ANTIFLAMITRY MY BITCH RECOVERED AND HIS STILL RUNNING TODAY GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DOG HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT,ALL THE BEST POT FILLER Quote Link to post

Paul in North Lincs 15 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Share Posted July 18, 2007 had a cur dilocate a hind leg at the elbow...................trip to the vets................strapped up for a month.............stretched the tendons and tore ligaments on the way out......... After about 3 months the dog was back out and about, but anything too strenous, and she'd pull that leg up.........even when walking. she was never the same, and never ran properly again I hope your bitches injury is not too serious Quote Link to post

jumby 11 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Share Posted July 18, 2007 mine disolacated one of his toes he was laid up for quite a while he has been out a few times and seemed ok but the vet said he will suffer from arthritis later in life i think he enjoyed his rest Quote Link to post
swamper 11 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Share Posted July 18, 2007 im 4 month into recovery with mine and her leg is full of wires and a rod and shes only just stared to walk again but hers was more than a brake...it was pointing in every direction just take your time mate thats the only advice i can give you....nice and easy.....if the dog decides its easyer on 3 legs give me a shout....theres some tricks to let it gain confidence in that leg again all the best mate Quote Link to post
