GazSBT 8
Hi iv started to build a real interest in working sight dogs but for the min iv been stuck watching videos and reading articas,I was wondering if there were any clubs or meets etc were I could call along and possibly learn the ropes or just pick up a few tips I don't want to go down the road of buying a dog and trying abit without any experience in the field. Please don't shot me down with daft comments I'm just a lad trying to get into the sport and with none of my mates having the same interests I'm finding it pretty hard. Cheers Gaz Quote Link to post
baw 4,360
Not surprised you've no replies mate. You don't get many "meets" for rabbit hunting. It's an usual sport to just take up without knowing anyone who does it. Most hunters are born into it, it's in the blood or have went out with others at an early age and got hooked. It'a not like pool where you can take it up at a whim and put yer cue in the cupboard for weeks till the notion rises. Dogs are a way of life. If your serious about wanting in, post your area and someone might take you out. 2 Quote Link to post

GazSBT 8
I no its a big ask for some one to let me tag along but even if I can be pointed in the right directio, like a local lurcher club or something I would be grateful. I am definetly not looking to hunt with dogs on a whim,I have had a long interest in sight/running dogs and hunting now have the opportunity and space to have another dog It's seems a good time to learn how to do this sport properly before I buy a pup,I am also not new to dogs and have spent alot of time on my current dog and have quite a good idea of how to keep a dog conditioned although because he is firstly a family pet I'm restricted to athletic type activity and not allowed by the missis to work him, when I do choose a new dog i don't want to just run it on the lure. If anyone can help that would be great Gaz Quote Link to post
