Grayling 56
Fort Air Rifle Club will be holding round 1 of the Troops Trophy 2012/13 at their Gweryd lakes shooting ground on the 18th November 2012. As before this will be in an effort to raise money to fund further parcels out to British Troops in Afghanistan. The last series of comps at Fort, Rivington, Tawd Vale and Oldham was an outstanding success raising over £5000, which funded 1100 plus morale parcels out to our soldiers serving in Afghanistan. We are expecting troops from the 1st Battalion Royal Welch fusiliers to join us on the day, these lad from the units Fire Support Group are due back in the UK after their current Afghan tour at the end of October. Ex HFT world champion and Afghan veteran Kieran Turner is coming along with some of his Para Engineers, plus members of the IED task force (bomb disposal) will be adding their support as well. It was actually lads from 1 RWF who sparked this idea for another Troops Trophy series while they were phoning me on the Sat phone from Afghanistan a few weeks back to tell me what they wanted adding to their next batch of parcels. In conversation the last comp was mentioned, it was also said how much they all enjoyed themselves and when was the next one. So here we are . I feel as in the last Troops Trophy series, this one is also an ideal opportunity for our hobby to show some of our servicemen and women, all of whom have already received our morale parcels during their tours, just how well thought of they are by the British general public. I know the lads from 1 RWF were amazed by our efforts last time and I am told still talk about that comp at Forts former Mouldsworth shooting ground to this very day that was held in November 2010. The comp will comprise 25 targets, with one of these a custom made knockdown target (by Jay Turner the bovine chasing yokel ) just for T4BT and the course will be set to current UKAHFT guidelines. There will also be a raffle with raffle tickets on the day and on site catering. The prizes have been donated by Daystate, MTC Scopes, Airgunner and Airgun Worlds Terry Doe and Matt Clark so should be worth a few raffle tickets . Forts shooting ground is set in the wonderful Clywdian hills just off the Mold/Ruthin road and is one of the most beautiful shooting grounds I've been too (good jobs its our club ). More details of the area and our club are available on Fort ARCs website. I will add the sat nav addy below. The shoot will be held in the woods surrounding Gweryd Lakes fishery, Gweryd Lodge, Plas Lane, Llanarmon-yn-Ial, Mold, Denbighshire, CH7 4QJ, U Quote Link to post
