Big Uli 3
The Logun Dominator I got my Dominator earlier this year from a friend’s son who had it lying about for years. He couldn’t get on with it and left it to his mate who returned it at some point and it hasn’t been used since then. When I got it, it leaked everywhere it possibly could leak but as a freebie I wasn’t going to complain. I have replaced every seal on this gun and then filled it with a stirrup pump from empty. The first thing I noticed was how accurate it was. The second thing that came to my attention was the biathlon cocking lever is a dream to use. About the Dominator -8 shot PCP -I have the version with the shrouded barrel and it is 40.5 inches long. -Due to the shroud this version of the Logun Dominator is fairly quiet. The barrel is 22 inches long, about 4 inches more than the unshrouded version. Adding a moderator makes it a very long gun. Both version have a free floating barrel -Each magazine has a 8 shot capacity and loads from the right which is a little awkward but you soon get used to it -In .22 Logun claim a 110 shot capacity and 90 in.177. To me this seems a little optimistic but as I use a stirrup pump I never like to go below 120 bars so I can’t say if this is correct or not -The Dominator has a adjustable power switch you can set to 6,9 and 12 FPE which is handy for indoor shooting such as ratting in barns and close range plinking - The biathlon cocking lever is easy to use. Imo every PCP should have one Some good points -The Dominator is capable or shooting pellet on pellet due to it's excellent Lothar Walther barrel -The gun is light and easy to handle -It comes with an adjustable butt pad as standard -The biathlon cocking lever is light and easy to use -The stock can retain 3 mags so you do not have to carry them in your pocket(See 2 pics up) Some bad points -The synthetic stock is a bit too skinny on the fore end and I never felt comfortable holding it -On the shrouded version which is a 16mm barrel things are not as they seem. The Lothar Whalter barrel has been turned down to 12mm to fit inside the 16mm shroud. This isn’t a problem until you fit a moderator and things go a little tits up. With the barrel being free floating 12 mm isn’t enough to keep it in place and you loose zero every time you stick it in your gun bag. Then you re-zero but end up with the odd flier and that really puts you of shooting this gun but there is a simple solution Luckily you can fix this problem by getting a FX barrel support and you are back to pellet on pellet. I can recommend Cheshire Gun Rooms as a source for a FX barrel support should anyone need one. Only place in the UK I found who sells them Some modifications i made I was humming and haring about the stock. Should I go and have one made or have a go myself. Or even go and buy a wooden stock of the FX Cutlas which is an identical gun. In the end I decided to have a experiment and bought some fibreglass filler, finishing filler, primer and satin black After sniffing some 2 pack :-D and lots of sanding and fine filling and some inhalation of spray can paint fumes I was happy to get this result Next job is a camo paint job all over and a shorter BSA barrel to get the gun cabined I'm hoping for a 60 shot capacity down to 120 from 200 bar once that is done. if it works that way I will be happy Quote Link to post
