There were only 5 kits last year so socialising, handling etc was not a problem and i kept them till they were 8wks.

Ive got 12 this year and want them out to their new homes for the handling to progress asap. Plus i want poor Horis out of the horrible pet carrier and back with his lady's. So what it the earliest age to give them to their new homes?

I've never really gone off age personally as they sometimes develop at different rates. I will let them go as soon as they are properly mobile (a nuisance :) ) and are using a water bottle and eating dry complete and flesh with gusto.

True enough, Moll. Most people say six to eight weeks. Personally, I like to take my kits as soon as they're showing signs of getting out of the nest and finding their way. They'll rip into a carcass even before their eyes are open, after all.

Then I'll carry them everywhere I go, in my pocket or just cupped in my hands. Keep them excersised by running across from one hand to another.

Kits I've taken on at ten or even eight weeks have been the ones who've been trecherous little b*stards. They can - if not handled - learn bad habits a bloody site sooner than they can be broken of them. So farm them out as soon as ye can and let the new owners fuss them rotton from day one ;)

:signthankspin: Phew thats a relief.

They will be well handled by me, im lucky enough to have a run big enough i can sit in it and can pick each individual one up whilst the others shin up my legs etc. But to be honest im feeling quite overwhelmed at the thought of it and to be truthfull i dont think they will get nearly as much as they will in their new homes.
