in ireland i think the hare population fall.

is due to fox population exlosion since

the fur trade stopped.

nothing to do with coursing hare on their own land in my opinion.

most hare dogs only cull the week and only the special few that

will kill the stongest hares all year round in good numbers.

there was a little note about bull island .

which is not too far from me .

used to see forthy and fifty hares down there as a young lad.

and they slowly dissipeared.

they blamed it on rising tides in our local paper which does have alot of anti comments on it.

never once did the mention that the place was full of foxes and feral cats .

realy gets up my nose when you see coursing being blammed for this.

when its probably only the coursing people that care how many hares on on a given land.

some good info on the site frank.

but some times it makes you wonder where they get their info from.

likly all anti backed.

I agree with you 110% macker.

I was thinking the same, foxes take far more then most think, prooven in the UK, with folks who are not antis.

Their seems to be a lot of ignorance, concerning coursing here in Ireland, when it comes to wildlife rangers ect.

I love to see the hare and taking the odd one by coursing in the season, is the closest thing to naturel culling in my opinion.

2 of the 3 contact numbers they give are English, says alot right there.pure F*cking anti shite.seems alot of the irish anti groups are trying to tie in with english groups(or visa versa).I don't know who is funding who but thats how it's going right now,the other week it was the "badger culling" report done again as a joint Irish english thing.I think though that they won't quite get the support they want with that tactic.

for a long time every spokesperson for hunting in Ireland had an english accent, and it just didn't wash. It's a bit like the french telling the British how to behave, kinda gets peoples backs up.
