B.P.R 2,798
Hi everyone. Got gifted a 10week Black eyed White kit last night and split my triple hutch so the youngster is on his own. Had him with the 3 hobs (all castrated) and they just drag him about by the scruff of the neck and he's in some pain. Tried it a few times and it's the same. I've separated him and plan to let them together for a while every day under supervision. And introduce them slowly over time until he's bigger. Obviously he's small and powerless compared to the other 3 so can't hold his own against them. Just looking for guidance on this? First time I've introduced a young kit to older ferrets as want to do it right. Thanks Edited September 7, 2012 by Blue Pocket Rocket Quote Link to post

Furittus 35
Give them another few weeks, although all castrated the thought is still there, you should have a happy family come the end of the month. Quote Link to post
sam4530s 37
i had this problem last week, i introduced them slowly like you are thinking about doin and it worked fine for me . BUT i waited until my ferts was 14 weeks old. its just the pecking order and they will calm down after a couple of days , several people have advised me to use olive oil or bitter apple spray on there necks . hope this helps , atb sam Quote Link to post
joe14 98
If you think hes not big enough to stick up for himself I would wait till he gets abit bigger. I once tried two of mine when they were 10 weeks old in with the adults, the adults didnt like them and the kits screeched they were that scared. They will drag them about, but if the kits are screeching and if theres poo/blood take them out streight away. Its always good to swap bedding over (if you use blankets). That way they get to smell each other for a couple of weeks before being introduced properly. Quote Link to post

B.P.R 2,798
Well the little feller has started to explore the hutch more and more today. I split the middle part of the hutch (triple hutch) with mesh so the adults can see the kit but can't get at him. Leave it like that a couple of weeks and then introduce them properly Quote Link to post
