Guest oldskool Posted June 9, 2007 Report Share Posted June 9, 2007 i wanted to import a pup from oz whilst i was there... i didnt look into it as hard as i should have but after a few questions to a pig hunting lad he reckoned it would have to stay in quarantine for about 6 months... the cost was £££ and maybe even an extra £ for good measure lol... i thought it was a lot of hassle considering by the time the pup was here it would have missed out on alot of early trainin.... i'm on my feet a bit better these days and might consider looking into it again Quote Link to post Share on other sites
macker 5 Posted June 9, 2007 Report Share Posted June 9, 2007 i know what you mean oldschool. my heart is with those american stags like the ones kye of this site. they really are like the old type deerhounds that used to be around me .if i had one of those dogs i would be the happiest man in ire. i think getiing sperm sent over would be good and cheeper. its a pity about the strict laws we have in this country. the place is just up the road from me that does the quarrantene. just the money and paper work is a nightmare and if everything is not right the dog will be sent back or put to sleep Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Saluki,s are regarded by the bedouin as way more than a dog. In fact, they dont recognise them as a dog at all. Dogs are "unclean" to the muslim, saluki,s arent dogs, they are "saluki,s" or "el hor" loosly translated as "noble one" They dont generally sell them, only give them as gifts, and reputedly the best blood doesn,t leave full stop. Its a bit like saying, i,m of to the aga khan, to see if he will flog me an arab stallion....Can you see where i,m coming from?
