At first he couldn't cock it but that wasn't an issue since he was always supervised when using it. My son is a reasonably average build and strength 10 year old, he can cock and load the rifle with a little effort. The XS15 also has an auto safety, which I like. The aim is to learn gun safety and discipline, as well as shooting skills and then he can progress onto the Brocock Contour he seems to have set his sights (pardon the pun) on. secretagentmole 1,701 Posted July 9, 2012 Report Share Posted July 9, 2012 Look for an XS78, light weight, nice power, CO2 powered, so it does not matter if he fires it without a pellet in it (which could wreck a springer). They are not heavy at all, ideal for the younger shooter, no cocking, just open the breech. Available for under £100! You can pick up 50 CO2 capsules on ebay from £25 from places like Ramsbottoms!
