If you want your dog to reach peak fitness then gentle walking is fine now and then start building it up around august in time for the forthcoming season. Your fitness regime doen't need to match that of a greyhound, they do one run then done for the day. You really need to build up his stamina, good long walks or if you haven't the time then get them following you on a bike to build up the milage. Good food, plenty of exercise and still plenty of rest is what is required a good lurcher(especially for lamping), but not til the right time. Enjoy summer with training. Like any athelete, they cant keep peak fitness for too long. So you want it when it counts....Winter!!! Quote Link to post
