kerryb 103
Hi, I now live in Perth in WA and recently tried soft plastics off a boat for the first time at the Abrolhos Islands and caught % of my fish on a 7 inch orange shad with a 1.5 ounce jig head. Dhufish, Snapper, Coral Trout, Emporers, Gropers all seemed to love them. We fished in between 20 - 50 mts of water and I was using a 7ft 6-10kg class ugly stick loaded with 30lb braid with a 50lb mono leader. I was amazed how successful the plastic was and I'm just curious if anyone uses them back in the UK? I can imagine they would work well for sporting species like pike as well as pollock, ling and bass. ATB and tight lines Kerryb Quote Link to post

kerryb 103
Cheers John, yeah it was great fishing but i had tried soft plastics for a year or so around Perth in rivers for bream and off beaches/marinas for herring, flathead, tailer etc and blanked everytime. Had no faith in them until this last trip think i'm a believer now... ATB Kerryb Quote Link to post
