theres a chance of shooting deer on some permission i may be obtainin and im wondering if the borders and midlothian firearms department are strict on having done a dsc1 ect first? coz i havent, i wouldnt be doin alot of deer shooting but wondering if it worth puttin it on the application?

Look through the pages and read my thread 'Legal issues regarding applications', you don't need a DSC to pull a trigger so don't let that put you off.

Do you have a good reason? Yes, a .243 is good enough for deer.... So unless you can't be trusted or need a mentor they can't refuse :thumbs:

well the permission i have isnt wide open spaces so wouldnt be shooting deer at long ranges, and the rifle will mostly be used for fox and small ground game so i was applying for a 223 but would like to be able to have a pop at a roe every now and then

I can't tell you not to back down to an over zealous department but L+B have always been fine with me, and I'm still waiting to do my DSC1 ;)
