the_stig 6,614 Posted April 2, 2012 Report Share Posted April 2, 2012 a mate was injured on hms coventry -- lost a leg he`s had a good outlook on life but still feels robbed of his choosen career -- finished up with a desk job for the leccy board -- he was a good boxer who everyone had high hopes for he always says i`m still here -- i admire the way he`s got on with his life .. gonetoearth 5,144 Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Share Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) All ways rember the Atlantic conveyor and her sister ship lieaving the Canada dock were theyhad been berthed for a couple of years as they were to costly to run , next thing they were having all kinds done to them and off they went , the conveyour got hit by an exsorset missile killing 12 all told including the captain. , the lads of the merchant marine should not be forgotten , my mate was on the shiny when she got hit the navy knew that'd had problems years later I met a guy in north Wales who was a chief petty officer on the shiny who knew my mate the stories he told that my mate never told any one humbled me , rio hog said let it go , I understand his centiment , but these men deserve the respect of this nation and should be remembered , I hope we can resolve this situation peacefully , but as long as the Falklands people want to be BRITISH they should get the full backing of this nation , Edited April 3, 2012 by gonetoearth Quote Link to post Share on other sites
