Pig hunting 2011

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I've had the time to post on here so I thought I'd put up some pics of a few hunting trips last year.

This boar weighed in at 84kg's dressed, so I guess he would've been around the ton mark live weight - and he fought with every last kilo. My dog Wonga found this fella on the bank of a muddy creek, latched onto his ear and got dragged about a hundred yards before we decided this might be a two-dog pig and sent Sid the bully/cattle dog into the fray.

Even with two strong dogs on him this boar was bucking and fighting for all he was worth, and managed to drag the dogs into the creek. This meant me getting my toes wet but I can deal with that for a good pig

Wonga caught this stinking hog one out and fought him for a good 20 minutes until I could get to him. I think that was his 8th pig in 3 hours, needless to say he ate and slept like a king that night :D

He's only a little dog but he hangs like a tick, has a great nose and has never let me down. He'd kill himself working if I let him though, got to keep a close eye on him.

My two bully/cattle dogs at about 6 months. They're now about a year old and are working like champs. Their sire (my mates cattle dog) is 16 and still comes out chasing pigs occasionally, and their dam, a 12 year old bully/pitty is the regular teacher and shows up and coming dogs the ropes.
