Guest The Shaman
Any Suzuki Jimny owners out there or mechanics/4WD enthusiasts with an idea what exactly my Jeep is suffering from before go back to the garage and thump the table. I bought the Jimny last month, every now and again I would get a whining noise (not the kids for a change), that wouldn't go away till I slowed right down, then would be ok for a day or two then would do it again. At first I thought it was maybe a brake caliper or something getting stuck. But over the last couple of days I have noticed that the Jeep wont stay in 2WD for more than a couple of miles before popping into 4WD. Drop the clutch, push back into 2WD with a nice thunk and away I go, only for it to sneak back into 4WD a mile down the road. I presume there is some kind of "gate" that should stop this happening, but I have no handbook and only a rudimentary grasp of the terms. Does anyone out there know what is going on, what can be done to remedy it, is it covered by warranty and is it expensive? Cheers
jasper65 6
Not sure about the Suzuki's Shaman but I would think there is a selector Rod on the side of the Gearbox, Perhaps if you have done any off roading or its took a knock it could well of got bent! the motor would have trouble holding 2WD if this is the case, it could also be the Gear selector in the box itself which probably wouldn't be a cheap job .... I've not done any serious off roading mate, just grassy fields, but theres always a chance that the geezer before me gave it a thrashing Might have to get a mechanic to have a wee look see.
