pistolpete 4
Hello all, im currently looking around for my first set of couples but i`ve noticed most of the buckles and trigger hooks are made out of brass. I have always assumed that brass is a bit on the soft side and can warp, any thoughts lads? Quote Link to post
LolaPat 49
Get some of strong stuff on here or get some decent bellman and flint brass one's. Which ever you get you won't go far wrong mate. Quote Link to post
Guest busterdog
Never had one warp on me yet, strong stuff has a good line in couples, with the trigger or without it. I've used the trigger system for years, i find it easier and less hastle than the traditional buckle collars and you still get the benifit of a collar that you can vary the size of. 1 Quote Link to post
Strong Stuff 2,171
I'd agree that the brass can wear, but it's over years not in an afternoon Not heard of or seen any warping. Best you can do to make sure they last as long as possible is to give them a rince from time to time to get any grit off, it will take 2 seconds to do. I'd say brass (as long as it is good quality solid brass, beware what you buy!) is a close second to using stainless steel, and as no one seems to make the fittings in stainless then brass gear is a better buy then the cheaper steel ones. If you buy from me or B+F then you'll be getting the best quality brassware available, anywhere else and it's anyones guess where the brass comes from. Look after it and it should last many years. 1 Quote Link to post
