vduben 55 Posted December 30, 2011 Report Share Posted December 30, 2011 i went out for a days ferreting, nothing serious just a nice day out with my mate who i hadnt seen in a while, first set of holes got netted up but missed one hole and one bolted, dam but my trusty snatch and grab hob had hold of one in there so i dug it out,we moved on to the next 8 holer under the corner of a hedge in a field, sat and waited for a good 10 minuites and nothing so i locate the hob and jill and there both in the same place, 5ft down in a stop end!!! as im digging 2 bolt, one taking the net with it which my terrier soon got hold of and......killed for me!!! i finaly get down to the tunnel and pull 2 mixy laden rabbit, after the 5ft dig we decided to move to a hedge i had done befor,a small 5 holer that was a nice easy and productive spot, i net up and put the ferrets in, once again i missed a bolt hole and one lives another day, never mind, after that i get 2 marks both at 2 ft, a few shovel fuls and im in to 2 rabbits that i dispatch, mean while my mates tending to my lakeland pup whos getting board and tring to pull the fence down and i look behind him and obivious to him is a rabbit tight in a purse net, a quick shout and he and my pattxjrt(tetley) are on it! so good so far, we then move to a small 'L' shaped piece which always produded in the past, we put down around 30 nets and away goes my hob and 2 young jills, by now tetley has slowed up alot and is working with less agression! we get a bolt straight away but after that nothing, i flick the box on, nothing, now i know there no deeper than 2ft so i decide to have a wander up a hedgerow 20ft away only to find the 3 ferrets working away bolting left right and center! i manage to locate in the madness and dig 3 not so lucky rabbits and tetley caught 3 on top which the ferrets flushed which i was really happy about, i was going to stop at 10 but ended up with a nice 16, if i had gotten all the ones that we had missed we would of been on the 30 mark! i retrieved all the ferrets and packed up and was home for 4, not how you serious men would do the job but i go to enjoy my self and that we did Quote Link to post
