Canadian Black Bears 23
The rifle season ended December 3rd, 2011 and I had pictures of some pretty good whitetail bucks so I decided to wait to try and bag 1 of them rather than take a doe. Had lots of chances at does but I wanted to manage the herd and take a buck as whitetails, unlike Black Bears, are not too plentiful in my area. Well, if you are a gambling man you could have wagered that I probably waited too long as all the bucks were nocturnal and did not show me a sniff of 1 during the day. I got skunked this year but the good news is, the herd will be better next year and I will have to wait till then. I have attached some pics of 3 of the bucks between 2:00-2:30 in the morning. The other is a doe which I watched almost everyday. Black Bears are much easier to get than 1 of these crafty devils...LOL Safe Hunting Rob Bland Canadian Black Bear Outfitters www.blackbearoutfitters.ca rob@blackbearoutfitters.ca Quote Link to post
Canadian Black Bears 23
I should have asked, does anyone have any suggestions on how to turn the bucks around to day time? Even with the rut in full swing I never saw 1 buck during the day. Any help with this question would be appreciated. Canadian Black Bears 23
I thought calling and antler shaking was big out with you mate.If that dont work then its pure luck if you bump into one or not . I'm not a firm believer in calling and rattling but I did try it and didn't work . To be honest, I think rattling and calling is for game farms or sanctuaries where the deer are used to people; however, some people believe it truly works. I am a bit of a pessimist when it comes to these strategies which could be 1 reason it didn't work ..Safe Hunting Quote Link to post
