whats the differance between a staghound & a deerhound

I don't think so; the working Saluki isn't that popular in Oz, I can't understand, when they have land like this to run;

ye asite to be proud of , the staghounds the best would cattle a reddeer paired up as they take mule deer and other types some are real deals and chase the big qaurry with fever , saw some built like solid coursing dogs strong headed powerful and very dangerous if not trained would kill most things , saw staghound saluks very good dogs take the heat better and more wind , scottish deerhound feching shame what they did to them

Many years ago, the local gypsies used to call any big, rough coated Greyhoundy type, a "Staghound" And when I was in Ireland last year, the Irish Travellers were calling my dogs "Stags". But the name has never caught on here in the UK, possibly because of the Staghound Packs ? We just call them Lurchers.

you saw many coyote hounds or proper staghounds gafer i have been lucky to se them mate hunt work i would have some of them in aminute saw one kill ajack rabit aftr 3 minute chase then next morning kiled abig coyote , great dog pity he died but he was a good one bred from old ben hardaways kennels , there good dogs when you see them stretched out on an ole coyote on aprairie great site

 

How does the staghound compare to a bullX (half cross) on coyotes?

no our lurchers are lurchers there dogs are longdogs or staghounds coyote hounds , etc , every country has there own name for running dogs alot ive saw were strong footed strong headed , very powrful , game dogs a ffty pound coyote takes some stopping for a pair of dogs

Yes mate, just bred bigger and stronger for the job they do. We don't have coyotes or kangaroos here!! LOL!!

  • a lot more usefull bigger toughter on the run , better coats more durable , good pics them charti, the coyote hound is on par with the good fen dogs for performnace they breed true and they always use worker to worker with the odd greyhiound put in for pace if they go to heavy , some parts its belo zero an d lower a bull cross wouldnt like to run on ice wouldnt like 2 3hundred yards slip at times , there a proper running dog , coat feet running brain and fast the best of them , mate
