whats the differance between a staghound & a deerhound

A "Staghound" in the UK is a large type of foxhound, used for unting Red Deer, in packs. A Deerhound is a purebred sight hound.

what about the "staghound" in Oz and the US?

 

They are usualy line bred from Deerhounds/Greyhounds/Borzois, e5c.

the stag hound in the usa is the equivlant of the scotish derhound bran and busker hundre plus years ago saw sevral hunting coyotes and jack rabbits feral pigs the best could run for fun the worst like a pure bred show deerhound , there no standard for the usa staghoundas there bred for work not show so only dogs that do the bizness are kept , were deerhounds are kept wether guys hunt them or not its ashame what thye have done to the scottish deerhound

one you need to import them and we have good dogs here nowadays that do the bizness , but i have saw afew i would take home , generaitions of hunting dogs bred to catch ,some smooth some broken coated got several pictures of stag hounds great dogs the good ones

ye the british stag hound is an english word the scots called the deerhound stag hound as thye were bred to hunt deer , hence scottish deerhound or slang staghound the english call staghound a big foxhound ,the yanks call a staghound coyote hound same dog realy ,its just diffrent names for diffrent parts of the world ,a second year red deer is a staggie hence staghound , but i prefer the scottish deerhound ,and stag hound american or coyote hound all the same just diffrent parts of the world mate

you saw many coyote hounds or proper staghounds gafer i have been lucky to se them mate hunt work i would have some of them in aminute saw one kill ajack rabit aftr 3 minute chase then next morning kiled abig coyote , great dog pity he died but he was a good one bred from old ben hardaways kennels , there good dogs when you see them stretched out on an ole coyote on aprairie great site

no mate never saw any butt wouldn't mind seeing one open up on a big field after what it was bred to do
