its less likely to get eaten if it looks dull & uninteresting on the outside , but the moth within may welll be a stunner , simple survival :laugh:

 

Elephant hawk moth is a classic , bright green , then it goes black , but when it emerges its probably one of the most stunning things you will possibly witness :thumbs:

The kids love bringing caterpillars home, feeding them, then looking after the pupae until they emerge.

You should always make sure you provide the correct food plants for the catterpillars.
