My uncle worked Manchesters on Rats for years, Im talking about 20yrs ago now. I can remember them being very efficient, however they were a nightmare around other dogs always fighting, in the end he had no more due to this. The only one I know now is a pet, still very sharp with other dogs but is also very nervy around people, its NOT its upbringing as they have had Fox and Jack Russell terriers all their life.

The last Manchester Terrier I saw here was at Kielder last year when I was fishing. It looked, from a distance, like a small whippet or Italian Greyhound !! The owner assured me it was a pedigree. My daughter owns one in Dubai, and a friend has one in Saudi Arabia, and they are both very protective and agressive to strangers and look like miniature Dobermans !!! I've not heard of anyone working them here, thats not to say they don't.

my parents always had one or two of them around (we are going back 30 years now)

The ones we had would have tackled anything (but not in a good way) I always remember them being very agressive to other dogs, people and everything really. Quite highly strung and not really a good breed to have around.

i have a couple of friends who have them as show dogs, and the males are renowned for fighting each other you cannot keep them together ,and this is show stock  they are also concidered as a endangered breed with hardly any bitches being born so you may find it hard to find one and pay a good price for it ,
