a lurcher were i was brought up if it couldnt do rabbs hares went down a peg and birds , now they breed shite to shite cant even turn a hare some of them .proper lurchers in my eyes wil work were ever you take them just like a true hunting dog size up situation them try to adjust some nite you couldnt pick your qaurry you had to run what wa sthere for the table etc , ithink peoples standards have went down in the dog game as years ago yo wouldnt walk ten miles to cacth fech all so you had to have adecent dog a running dog has to have feet lenght a running brain ,pace and hardy ,

i think a good few strains/families of dogs got lost when people stopped needing them to feed their families and just used them for pleasure.
