Guest vin Posted November 20, 2011 Report Share Posted November 20, 2011 Was up early this morning..picked up young Brad and met Deanflute at one of our local spots..had a little walk and decided to have a go at a rather large hedgerow full of runs and about 4 different sets. We netted up the whole hedge from top to bottom with the hope of backnetting any escapees.. dropped a ferret in and waited..and waited....eventually ferret came out with a bite off the rabbit on the end of nose..LOL.,So we knew at least 1 was home..decided to leave it and move on and come back to it later. we moved up the hedge and popped a fert back in..had a great bolt in a matter of seconds,in the nets and sorted..then another out of a missed bolt hole ran down the hedge and backnetted itself on 1st set.. Deans dog pulled it out of hole with net..sorted. then another out and netted..then another out on the run and gone.1st missed one of the day. we then had a bolter hit the net and in the scrabble to get it he slipped the net,but my dog nailed it on the hedge.. A bit further up the hedge and 1 bolts off down the hedge and into bottom corner full of brambles and netteles etc etc..dogs followed and so did Brad and dean...next thing young Brad sees the bunny slinking off under the cover so he did a bit of fancy footwork and caught it under his foot and picked it up like a Pro (who needs dogs with feet like that). We ended the morning on 5 in the bag and a very good bit of action in a place where we usually struggle to get any.. hats off to young Bradders for the fancy footwork...apart from when he fell over and went with a right thump ! whin 463 Posted November 20, 2011 Report Share Posted November 20, 2011 ye still abit of cover a few nettles the daY , you can only cacth whats there ,had some great rabb places over the years mostly on the high country or down near the beach as they dont get botherd the same and up the hils well out of the way ,as you need a 4 x 4 to gain accsess ,all the best Quote Link to post
