Ratting ferrets

Recommended Posts

Has anyone got a genuinely good strain of ratting ferret? I'm currently working a mixture of polecats and white ones that are generally used for rabbits. Recently ratting permission has grown even more. Getting peed off with the smokers, not sure how effective they are, so I've gone back to ferreting the rats. I've got one gill absolutely top banana on rats, but not the best rabbiting ferret. My really good rabbiting ferrets aren't that sparkling on rats. I know ferrets will jib on rats if they've been bit, but up to press none of them have had any bad bites.

So I was just wondering if anyone has any genuinely good ratting ferrets (I know it's not PC to work your ferrets to rats these days).

Ta!

my dad has used his ferrets for ratting in the past, he breeds very small, thin, weasely type albino jills. basically you just need ones small enough to fit into the holes, and that aren't bothered about getting bit. rats can be nasty f*ckers when cornered, so you need tough little ferrets to get the better of them! he has a bit of a surplus at the moment, i don't know if he is actually serious about getting rid of any, but if you're interested i can ask. we're in norfolk.
