irishboy 1
HI to all many thanks for the advice provided to me about 2 months ago, i had nearly given up on my lurcher.if you remember she was catching rabbits but not retrieving to me and running around and starting to eat them, people advised me to stop hunting and to feed the dog from my hand. Well for the month of september i did this, and found it hard work not to be out in the fields with her but my god has it paid off,its like someone has taken away my dog and given me a new one. last week went out with her and got 5 rabbits !!!, all retrieved back to me, I never had a dog that did 4 3 in one night before not to mind 5 !!! so anyway thanks for the tips and advice, here she is after last night with one rabbit retrieved, looks a happy doggy.. irishboy 1
Csteed. My problem was that the dog was retrieving but not all the way back and would stop short of me part of the issue is she was half afraid of me because i tried to stop her jumping up on the.kids.but one month of feeding by hand and playing tug with her and shestarted retrieving all the way back to me, not sure if your issueis thesame, but post your problem here and definitely some one will beable to help. irishboy 1
Hi Casso I baulked on the trainer thing as the dog is top notch these days and i dont want to do anything to change that,Im afraid that the trainer would knock the hunting instinct out of her. yes she is still hyper when left out of the kennel and I stay around with the small girls, but she seems to not be as hyper for as long, maybe she is maturing ,she is 18 months old now. out the other night with her and she had another 4 rabbits and unlucky not to have 6.Very very pleased with her at the moment.
