mangy1983 51
I was just speaking to my old man and a few of his mates who are all weavers for Harris Tweed etc and they were all talking about the prices of parts for their looms and believe you me if you have ever seen the double width loom manufactured by Griffiths textiles you will know what l mean. The above loom cost (new) £16,000 and parts that look like they cost about £10 to make cost upto £400 etc but there are no other companies making these parts. One of my fathers friends also stated that the original company who created these parts have stopped paying the copyright on their parts. I was just thinking that if a company could replicate these parts and sell them cheaper they would get plenty of orders for spares etc. So does anyone know of any good companies who might be able to do this? cheers Callum
dytkos 18,176
Probably the wrong forum to put this up on mate? Maybe an "industry" type forum or website? Failing that, try any engineering fabricators/machine shops that may be able to produce what you need. Served my apprenticeship in the cotton mills, good memories, best of luck with your search Cheers, D.
