What to look for in a pup

Recommended Posts

I dont know anyone who works terriers, and havent had a dog for 10 years and then only Beddlingtons and running dogs, but i now want a terrier for ratting, bushwork and to try and kill the mink that i see every time iam out fishing, dont want another bedlington, iam thinking Lakeland or Patterdale type maybe, went to see a Lakeland x Patterdale pup yesterday and it was built more like a Corgi [iam exaggerating abit to make a point] than the light nippy Lakelands i remember, anyway what should i be looking out for physcally in a pup as iam unlikely to see both parent,s, not knowing anyone working or breeding there own terriers leaves me wide open unfortunatly, be gentle :D .

first of all i would try and find some pups from a sensible working back ground, look for good bone and a good head.. you will soon no if its not right.

The other thing is dont rush in to buying the first pup you see, good luck and let us no what you get.
