My Earth Anchor Attempt

Evening folks,

Thought I'd have a go today at making some soft ground earth anchors that Snareman has kindly shown us all how to make :thumbs-up:

Some of the tools I used, also used was an angle grinder and genny for power. As you can see you need a very fancy and well equipped workshop to make these anchors  Not!

Unfortunately the only 3mil wire we had on hand wasn't Tinsley High Tensile wire (really is the best stuff to use folks). Anyway made do for the first round. So I needed to make some type of contraption to bend the wire. A scrap piece of timber and some screws, knock off the tops with the angle grinder and here we go...

What I used for the anchors themselves are those bits of metal used to attach PVC doors to blockwork etc. My sisters boyfriend had a dozen or so on hand that he didn't want :D Split them with the angle grinder, and made a small cut up one end like in the pic below.

Drill a hole in the middle, little bit of bending and hey presto. Now, in my eagerness to finish I did forget to drill a hole at the bend opposite the fish tail. Back in the vice tomorrow and that'll get sorted

For the 3mill wire I just made the appropriate bends, nothing special it's simple to do :thumbs-up: Did get the bend under the anchor the wrong way which makes a bit akward for the driver but it's a learning process :icon_redface:

Here is the finished article. My anchor is on the left of both pictures. The one on the right is a genuine Snareman article that he sent on to me :thumbs-up: Thanks again GW :thumbs-up:

not a bad attempt but the first one on the left needs a bit more radius on the handle to put tension on the wire like ;) the one on the right which im sure was glens  they are a bit lighter than draging stakes around the place to secure the wires ;) as they say practice makes perfect ;)

On the handle tension, it's the wire I'm using it's a bit shit really, much too bendy. Like I said I didn't have the high tensile stuff to hand but I'll be investing in some soon!
