The one 8,577 Posted September 21, 2011 Report Share Posted September 21, 2011 Its got to be how the rabbit is facing in the stop end if its head in the ferret has no option but to scrape the rabbits backside unless it can get over the rabbit to get the head . But if its head is facing out the ferret will go for the eyes . I can remember in the days before knocker boxes walking back to the car with my dad after ferreting and there where eyeless rabbits just outside the burrow mouths the ferrets having nailed the rabbit and left it . Christ known how many a locator would have put in the bag in them days . But iv'e been out lamping and shot a rabbit with a bare backside so it can work both ways Quote Link to post
Col_c88 41 Posted September 22, 2011 Report Share Posted September 22, 2011 One more funny thing - i have also noticed that my jills like to take above ground shortcuts, i.e they will surface, run across the top of the warren and dive back to ground at a spot closer to the rabbit. Anyone else? My polecat does this and he always seems spot on when getting the rabbit.. like i say tho, unfortunatly hes started to kill under ground ... tho i havnt had enough outings to say that hes doing it all the time..
