On Sunday last week, i set one mk 4 up and did the usual palced in tunnel, put two sticks so other animals other than the quarry could not enter! made a false run so it looks like other animals have been going in! Placed it on the edge of the wood by a gateway (no public footpaths) near a drey! But i have still nothing touched it :hmm: My mate said it can take a few weeks but im sure the ones before had them in in days!! Im setting 2 more up when i have more time to check them more often!!

You want to be carefull listening to your mate.

Live bait for things like foxes is illegal - you're fine with nuts.

My rule of thumb is blind tunnels baited, straight through unbaited.

But squirrels will run through an open tunnel without bait.

Well ill set some more up this weekend! Hopefull will have one in the current one there before :victory:

Husband finds whole maize is quite a good bait where squirels are concerned. (he will use a 25K sack in a couple of months) try putting a few bits outside of run, then trickle though and over trap to encourage. Sticks definatly needed across the tunnels to prevent headless pheasants  and dead dicky birds! You dont need to have it set too heavy for squirels or rats or you will probably find you get false trips by mice.

Feck knows how it got to it the little sod but one of my layers decided to peck one of my mk 4's this morning  , she must have moved the sticks and really stretched her neck. They are now in underground tunnels ;)
