More Lamb Killers

Recommended Posts

My mate got a call from the farmer local to us saying he had lost a few lambs to fox(es) & would we come & have a walk about.

The first night proved fruitless with only a glimpse of one way off on the railway bank that borders the land but last night saw a much better result. No more than thirty seconds walk out of the yard & one was spotted sitting out amongst the ewes & their lambs, game over for a dog fox.

After a scan of a few other fields a pair of eyes were spotted in the tree line of the first field, we made our way down the hill but it would not budge from the cover. It was either very stupid or just intent on not moving far from a ewe & new-born close by that we walked up at leisure to about twenty metres from it before making it number two.

The third was taken in the last field of the night. At first it did the off into the edge of the wood but couldn't resist returning to the call, the only problem being finding a decent gap in the blackthorn hedge to enable a shot.

An enjoyable few hours walk & a happy farmer when he saw these on the farm dump this morning.
