bunnyspotter 46
I visited an old friend of mine for our yearly trip Roe stalking last fri, arriving early afternoon (Perth, Scotland) i had just enough time to get full on pub food and ready for our first stalk. I was hopeing for some early success for the weekend so we could have a few beers and smiles on the first evening, but the weather and luck wasnt on our side !! So our first morning stalk came around on sat, we set off around 04:30hrs to get there just before first light. The land we were stalking was mostly arable with woddland and rough land in area's... after some serious binocular vision and mooching around, (06:35hrs) we spotted a pair of Doe's with young at 450yds... Both of them were unaware of us, and both were looking towards the corner of the field they were closest to, BUCK ! We watched him for 5, to think of the best way of getting to him without the Doe's and young Fu**ing it up... After 20 mins of careful crawling, watching and exitement- it was time for the sticks... At about 220yds he was in a good spot for a safe shot, the only problem being was ! All of a sudden ! we couldnt see him in the crop.... All of a sudden i saw a pair of antlers but not the ones we'd been watching for the past hour, none the less at 195yd it was time ! He went down without a stuggle... only for the original buck to stand not 40 yrds to the left of him, in good time for me to salute him and wave until another day .... http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee431/bunnyspotter/IMGP0488.jpg Edited August 26, 2011 by bunnyspotter 1 Quote Link to post
