jarrodevs 5
hi i swapped my mates father my old short scope for a bushman riflescope which are 4-12X40. they also have two cross hairs one slightly higher than the other and they have a range guage at the front. so would like to know what is the best way to set the sights as i was told to set the central cross to the average 30yrd and the slightly higher to about 10yrds. what do you all think??? thanks jarrod Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Hi Jarrod. From your post it sounds like you have a scope that's better suited to a fullbore hunting rifle as this type of reticle is usually designed to allow the shooter to compensate for bullet-drop and drift at determined distances. However, the thing to do is zero your rifle on the central, lower crosshair. This should at least bisect the sightpicture centrally through your view through the lenses. Then, see where your second, 10mtr shot hits. The upper crosshair may provide you with reasonable "hold-under" info It may be possible for you to calibrate your rifle pellet's trajectory by adjusting through the magnification zoom ring. For example, shoot at both ranges from 4 mag to 12. If you find that your shots match, say, 10 to 25 or 30 metres on the reticle bars accurately at say, 6x magnification then that's where you need to shoot from. You need to practice with it to find what it calibrates at. All the best. Simon Quote Link to post
