Half an hour this evening

Thought I'd have a little look at one of my new permissions, a garden in the next village to me. I've just swapped some scopes around on my rifles, and thought I'd take my .177 single shot Ultra to see if I could do some damage to the resident rabbits, and get the dog some dinner.

After a very quick zero in the back garden, I headed up the road.

As soon as I got out of the car, the first opportunity presented itself. I rushed the shot, and struck a stone just behind the rabbit's head. It jumped as if it had been shot, and then legged it.

Sat still under a tree, and after 7 or 8 minutes the next one appeared, I had all the time in the world, and somehow I completely missed that as well. I'm completely ashamed of myself, and glad the property owner wasn't there to see! Not more than a few minutes passed, when I sensed some movement out of the corner of my eye. A half grown bunny appeared at about 4 o'clock behind me. I slowly shuffled into position, and let the shot go. The rabbit jumped about 3 feet in the air, and then lay completely still.

On inspection, I'd placed the shot perfectly. Just below the eye, but because it was pretty much facing me, this offered the most direct route to the kill-zone.

That was all I was after, so I picked it up, took a quick photo and called it a night.

Here's the photo I took on my phone

Long write up for one rabbit, but I enjoyed myself!!
