Gaz_1989 9,539
Ive got 3 young hobs, 2 albinos about 12 weeks and a poley about 15 weeks. The albinos are brothers and similar size, one slightly bigger. The poley is about twice the size of the biggest albino. Ive never seen any aggression and they all sleep in a hammock together but they "rough play" alot and drag each other about by knecks. The smaller albino has got a few small scabs on it's scruff and by shoulder blades. Not too bad just little teeth marks like. But the bigger albino has got a big raised scab about the size of a 20p piece. I think the albinos are battering each other, the poley seems less feisty and its the brothers I always see scrapping. Should I take one of the albinos out and see if I can get the poley and one albino to live in harmony? Is that likely? If I have to get all 3 castrated then I will but didn't want to really. Wanted keep 1 entire and 1 vasectomised for the future. I have got a 2nd hutch by the way. Any ideas appreciated. Gaz Quote Link to post

Born Hunter 17,966
I would probably separate them. Ive seen such wounds before and they were a bit too nasty for my liking. The lad left the 2 brothers together and they were fine for the short while he had them but I wouldnt have. Its the main reason I dont like keeping many hobs, 2 would be the most I would need or want. Im surprised they are doing it so young though, it usually starts when they become sexually active. martnmagik 68
i have in the past kept two brothers together and they lived happily all there life, BUT have never since got two hobs to live peacefully together so i now keep my hobs seperate all year round. atb mart Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Thanks for the replies and PMs. The Poley is deffinitely the boss and the others dont challenge him which is why i thought i MAY be able to get one of the albinos to live happily with him but maybe this could all change when they come of age. B.P.R 2,798
I've got 3 jobs mate. 2 brothers in there and another job. All around the same age. I've kept them together or a good 3 months with no problem. Had one castrated about 5 week ago and the other 2 done 10 days ago. Made a mistake getting 3 hobs but wouldn't change them now. They were all fine together but they were play fighting as marking eachother quite badly like you said. They still fight now but it will take a while or their hormones to settle down. I'd get them all done, if I wanted new ferrets I'd just get them off some people I know, let them deal with the smelly testosterone filled b*****ds haha Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Haha. Thanks for reply Lee. At what age can you get them done? Quote Link to post
