Guest annette jackman
After a week since starting Fenn off with the ferrets, and abit of a mad rush, ste with his jill and myself with fenn, trundled off to the golf course to continue with fenns training. We moved to a different warren to save over hunting the last we used and not kill too many milky does in one area. Fenn was keen and showing signs of setting the holes, after watching nipper (patterdale), nets were laid and the game was on. After killing her first that bolted, she held two more which we were keeping back to let her run on the scutch field at the back of where we live, to train her on the pick up. However as we were moving we encountered the course manager, who informed us after many complaints, we were no longer welcome on the course. He explained that quite afew so called hunters were now using this course, and letting their dogs loose all over the course upsetting the golfers. A man with a bullgrey, and terriers in particular letting his dogs loose. So after a chat we decided to leave, if not alittle peed off. Its annoying when people try to stick to the rules of a site and keep their dogs under control and others run riot. We will be trying another site Sunday, was not a total waste of time though Fenn picked up the two we kept back so her training continues. It might not be an epic amount caught but she's showing great keeness (and i was not nettled to death this time ha ha). Also ste has kindly given us a kitt, 6 weeks old and we will be recieving are new member of the pack next week. Bring on the season Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,217
Just a tip, but you get less hassle when you do it on the cold, rainy winters days than you do on the warm, sunny, summers days. Quote Link to post
Guest annette jackman
True, were just training her at the moment, but the feller ive been going with has been using that site for years, new people coming on it and running there dogs all over the course. we stick to the ruff and wooded areas and hes usually not bothered by any one. we run her on a different field Just a tip, but you get less hassle when you do it on the cold, rainy winters days than you do on the warm, sunny, summers days. Ideation 8,217
Sorry, that was not a dig, but just advice when it comes to golf courses in particular. But yes, sounds like you were let down by others. Quote Link to post
