general question

i'm looking to get a lurcher to accompany me ferreting and mooching aswell as a pet for the girlfiend..

i'v grown up with a mastiff and staff and love bull breeds in turn i like the bull greys but quetion being are they as good on the rabbit as say a whippet cross would be..

would be greatful for any views..

iv got a whippet for ferreting and lamping ,and they are not as gay as people like to make out ,over the bull crosses they tend to be more agile and being small tend to be quicker than the bigger dogs over a short distance so ideal for rabbit

the girlfriends grandad used a whippet in his day and he swears by em for rabbit.. he had a little corker from what he's said, beat sum records with it.. 'so he tells me anyway..'

i think i'l be looking for:

bull/grey x whippet

1/4bull 3/4whippet

sounds like a top rabbiter!!! just got find the breeding now lol could this take some time or are they common??? i like the bull whippet like the one clipper had in his thread..

Had a Dog thirty years ago. That was before the " Bull X " was really spoken of, let alone flavour of the month. I'd reckon, from knowing the dam and seeing some siblings, that Dog was something along the lines of Bull x Greyhound/whipper x 'Collie - ish thing'.

 

Looked like a slightly bigger, more muscular 'whipper x'. Had eyes like a Whipper. Muscles of a Bull X. Waryness of a Collie. Dog aggression of something spawned in hell.

 

Would mark a bury. Pull down a Roe. Anything and everything in between asked of it.

 

Make what ye will of that.
