How far & how quick do you think fallow can travel? When we were lamping the other night we spotted about 10 deer, these too me looked quite big, too big to be roe.

The nearest place known to hold falow deer is 20 miles away, is it possible that they could have moved down here? There is plenty of woodland, grassfields, and moss-type ground.

THe deer were spooked by the beam of the lamp (not that we were having a go at them, just looking at them) but semed quite slow off the mark.

cheers

Round my way it is common to find roe bunched up at this time of year, I saw nine roe in one group on Saturday evening as it was getting dark and I came across seven in a group while out lamping rabbits about 15 miles away on Wednesday

I may be proved wrong by some of the more knowledgeable stalkers on here but fallow are nomads ,following food sources and exscaping pressure .We have herds around us that travel an 80 mile radius .Individuals are known by colour in each herd but can be spotted anywhere within that radius .
