tillylamp 1,940
Hi, Finished work friday, packed up motorhome with essentials, right we are off fishing for the weekend at our local lakes. Arrived motorhome all set up. Up early Sat morning, lunch packed, flasks done off we go to the lakes. Set up, reasonable weather, tea poured fag rolled yes this is the life. Wait up got a bite. Lovely common bream, around 3lb not bad. Wait up another bite. Lovely tench around 5lb. All is looking good. Water surface is fizzing with bubbles all around my float. Yep a wicked day so far. Wait up another bite another tench fraction smaller than the last. Followed by some nice roach, rudd some more bream lovely jubbley. There is a small dyke near the lake where I fish. Last time we went fishing here I dropped a line in the dyke and caught a really nice tench around 5lb, so I was just having a wander around the dyke, as you do, and saw a beautiful carp. It looked at least 15lb. Ahh me thinks I'll drop in a line with some sweetcorn, set up the bite alarm, and leave it to go back to me float fishing. You guessed it, everything went bloody quiet. Half an hour goes by. Then another. Decided that was it, so started to pack up for the day. Float rod first, then bivvy leaving the ledger rod till last. Just in case !! All done, now to the ledger. Pulled it up, and caught a little bit of weed about two inches long on hook, hook being size 12. No worries just reeled in it and it was bouncing on the surface. Then about 10 foot from bringing it in woooooomp and a bloody get big splash. Caught me unawares. Suddenly I am playing what appears to be a big fish by god. After 15minutes of playing it and sweating about the size 12 hook I caught a glimpse and low and behold a huge pike. Can you believe it? Eventually it tired and I managed with some difficulty to get it half way in my landing net. It had rolled and there was loads of weed to add to my situation, but hey the adrelien had kicked in and I was on a mission now. Landed it but only just as I have already said it was too big for the landing net. What a wonderful way to end the day a 17lb pike. All on a size 12 hook how lucky am I? Isn't it always the way, every other time I have taken a camera or would have my phone but nope not this time goddamn it ! Returned back to my motorhome with a grin from ear to ear. When we got in a nice cuppa tea Quote Link to post
